ECC Concert Choir Note for January 31st, 2012
Buenas dias, Concert Choir families! I hope you’re enjoying this bizarre, warm-ish January weather. Please read below for some updates to keep you filled in on what’s up in ECC land:
ECC Performances List, Updated Info: Today a hard copy yellow list was handed out, itemizing all performances booked so far for this semester. Please note the updated times for various entries. There will still be another gig or two added to this list, but I wanted you to have the all the info that is set as of now. Please post this list somewhere helpful to you, like on the fridge, and replace it once an updated list is issued. As always, please mark and double-check your calendars. All singers are expected to participate in all performances and special rehearsals unless I hear otherwise from you, ideally well in advance.
Singers: Memorize Carmina! I’ve asked our singers to take their binders home to memorize their brief part for the Carmina Burana. Sometime in February, a director from the North Shore Choral Society will be coming to our rehearsal to work with our kids, so we need to have our part down.
March Fundraiser Materials Coming Next Week: You are all aware that we recently completed a successful Holiday Fund Drive mailing campaign. That was the first of two major fundraising ventures the ECC undertakes each season to round out our budget. The second is our annual fundraiser in March, which this year will be called The Warm Up: A Spring Fair and be held on March 23rd for the Concert and Intermezzo Choirs (The Juniors have a separate event on the 24th). The event is a lot of fun, and it will involve participation by just about everybody in some way—all ECC singers, staff, parents, and the Board of Directors. This is a little heads-up that next week each ECC family will be getting a packet of materials relating to this event, so please look out for that.
Volunteers Still Needed for Auction Solicitations: The ECC Board of Directors still needs more help with soliciting area businesses for silent auction donations for our upcoming March Fundraiser (see above). I can give any volunteers access to the master list of places we intend to solicit via Google Docs online so you can see which places we still need to cover, plus solicitation materials you’d need. Please contact me asap if you can help. Thank you!
ECC Home Phone List Coming Next Week: For your convenience, next Tuesday I plan to hand out updated hard copies of the ECC Home Phone List for the Concert Choir, also listing each singer’s school, so you can all contact each other more easily to coordinate carpools or whatever. In cases where a family has no hard phone line, a single cell number will be listed. This list will NOT be posted anywhere online or sent by e-mail, for your privacy. If you do not want your phone number to be included on this list, please notify me within the next few days.
Help ECC for Free via eScrip and Goodsearch: The ECC is enrolled with two automatic cash-back programs you may be familiar with, eScrip and GoodSearch. eScrip deposits money directly into the ECC’s bank account whenever you shop at Dominick’s with a registered Fresh Values Card, or when you use registered credit cards at a wide variety of places. GoodSearch is an internet search engine (powered by Yahoo!) gives the ECC money whenever you use it to browse online. The ECC also gets cash back when you buy things at a wide variety of websites by starting on the GoodShop page. To make it convenient, you can even download a GoodSearch toolbar for your web browser or make GoodShop your home page. To find out how to get started helping the ECC through either of these programs, please simply visit their respective websites: www.escrip.com or www.goodsearch.com and follow the instructions. Thanks for taking the time to look into these programs to benefit the ECC : )
You are now up to speed. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you on Thursday!
