ECC Concert Choir Note for February 14th, 2012

Happy Valentine’s Day, Concert Choir families!  It’s cold outside, but I hope it’s all warm and fuzzy in your hearts : )  Or something like that.  I’m noticing there are lots of lists in today’s note.  (Sorry if lists bug you, but there you go.)  Please take note of the following important reminders about our March 4th Concert with the North Shore Choral Society and our March 23rd Fundraiser, The Warm Up:

Special Rehearsal Times in Prep for March 4th Performance:  Similar to last semester with the ESO, there is a Tuesday on which we will have 2 rehearsals, but we will shorten the first one.  Please see below for details of the rehearsals leading up to the March 4th concert:

  • Tuesday, February 28th, 4:15-5:15 shortened rehearsal at the Noyes Center
  • Tuesday, February 28th, 7:30-8:30 rehearsal with North Shore Choral Society at Unitarian Church of Evanston (1330 Ridge Ave.): CHECKLIST PICK-UP
  • Thursday, March 1st, 4:15-5:15 regular rehearsal at the Noyes Center
  • Saturday, March 3rd, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 dress rehearsal with North Shore Choral Society at Unitarian Church of Evanston (1330 Ridge Ave.); CHECKLIST PICK-UP

Memorize Songs for March 4th:  I’ve asked our singers to continue taking their binders home to memorize the following songs for the March 4th concert:

  • Carmina Burana, excerpts (mvts. #15, 22)
  • Blue Butterfly Day
  • Solda Wa Milo
  • Duond Akuru (just review for most kids)
  • Mi Buenaventura (not officially programmed for Mar. 4th, but I’d like to throw this one in if we can get it ready!)

Selling Any Raffle Tickets?  Remember the Weekly $10 prize!  Just greasing the wheels with a little cash.  Remember, the overall top ticket seller also gets a $100 prize ($50 for 2nd place, $25 for 3rd).  In case people ask, the raffle’s 2nd and 3rd prizes are now set.  Here’s the complete raffle prize list:

  • 1st PRIZE:  Apple 32 BG iPad 2
  • 2nd Prize:  2-nights deluxe accommodations at Chicago’s Hotel Felix
  • 3rd Prize:  Wine sampler set from the Marchetti Company

Sell them to friends, neighbors, relatives—whomever, kinda like Girl Scout cookies.  And don’t forget to invite people to the actual event on Friday March 23rd!  It’s a lot of fun!  Keep selling those tickets, and please ask for more to sell if you need them.  We have plenty on hand in the rehearsal room.  Thanks!

Got Any Silent Auction Items to Donate?  This is another big way you can help our event’s bottom line.  We will take almost any item of value, in very good or excellent condition (we kind of want to stay above “garage sale” level).  Also, if you have a special connection with a business owner or someone who provides services of some sort, a store item or gift certificate is an excellent item to solicit on our behalf.  Items can be dropped off at any rehearsal.  Please let me know if you need a solicitation letter, event flier, or other materials from me, and thank you for thinking of ways you can help!

And that’s it from the ECC Home Office this week.  See you on Thursday!
